The former world champion told why he decided to return to professional boxing and plans for the future.
Former world light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk wants to be stripped of the belt again. According to the Ukrainian boxer, this is the main goal of his return to professional boxing. Gvozdyk also said that he suddenly decided to continue his career.
“2019 is a good time to try something else besides boxing. I tried to start my own business in Ukraine. But the lack of experience and the Russian invasion put an end to my plans. I don’t know what’s next to do, I suddenly got an invitation from Cannelo to be one of his sparring partners before the Bivol fight.
I spent the whole training camp with him and I was happy with what I showed. The idea of returning came automatically. I have achieved a lot more in boxing. I intend to become a two-time world champion. I want to earn the right to fight the best fighters in the light heavyweight division – Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol,” Bad Left Hook quoted Gvozdik as saying.
It will be remembered that on May 6, Gvozdyk will fight Richard Bolotniks on the undercard of the fight between Saul Alvarez and John Ryder.
Earlier, Bolotniks said what he expected from the meeting in the ring with the Ukrainian boxer.
