Children from the people’s republics of Donetsk and Luhansk will attend a concert Irina Viner-Usmanova in honor of the Day of Russia, the president of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation told reporters.
The concert is scheduled to take place at the Irina Viner Gymnastics Palace on June 12 in honor of Russia Day.
– We will wait a bit – children from Donbass and Lugansk will come to us. They were on tour in Moscow and are now coming to us. We dedicate this holiday to you — to the children who came here, and to the children of Donbass and Luhansk. We are happy that they are watching the concert today.
We also have a Chinese handball team with the president of the federation here. They have been training with us for a long time, they have survived the pandemic. China is a powerful country in industry, culture and sport. We will not allow our sport to sink,” Viner-Usmanova said.
She also spoke about the opportunity to compete with the strongest gymnasts, which was received by very young Russian athletes.
– We opened the age – now 12-13 year old girls can compete with such eminent girls as Dina and Arina Averine . Previously, this was not allowed, because their program was easier. But we gave them that opportunity. And during the “Cup of the Strongest” such a fight broke out that it was very interesting to watch, added Viner-Usmanova.
On June 8, the first stage of the “Cup of the strongest” ended in Moscow, in which Russian and foreign athletes took part. All gymnasts from the Russian Federation, except for the Averin sisters, performed under Russian rules. Averins and athletes from other countries competed under FIG rules.
Russia has won all gold medals in the individual championship: Lala Kramarenko won the all-around and the four finals under Russian rules, Dina Averine – all-around and final with a ribbon according to FIG rules, and her sister Arina – the remaining three finals (hoop, ball, clubs).
