Athletistic/ Others. Ukrainian judoka Georgiy Zantaraya has criticized the decision to allow Russian athletes to participate in Grand Slam tournaments under neutral status.

“I learned that Russians will be allowed to compete in Ulaanbaatar in a neutral status. I have already said that in my opinion, sport in such situations cannot stay away from politics. Therefore, I want to make an official statement. If the Russian judokas will be allowed to participate in the tournament, I give up all my titles, as well as the title of world champion. It is a pity that my sports federation has started to support passively the special operation”, wrote the 2009 world champion in one of his social networks.

Judo Grand Slam competitions will begin on June 24 in Ulaanbaatar.

Zantaraya is the only Ukrainian judoka to have won the world championship. He also has two gold medals at the European Championships – in 2011 and 2017.
