Kostomarov was hospitalized in January and has been under medical supervision ever since. On Monday, the Olympic figure skating champion posted his first social media post since being hospitalized, thanking everyone for their support.

Kostomarov is the 2006 Olympic champion in ice dancing, two-time world champion, three-time European champion, three-time Grand Prix Final winner, three-time Russian champion.
