An athlete with a Ukrainian passport radically changed his mind after the start of a full-scale war with Russia.
Former world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko shared his memories of his refusal to fight for the title of absolute world champion in the lightweight division against George Kambosos after the start of a full-scale war between Ukraine and Russia.
According to the athlete, he stood up for his country and family.
“You can’t do anything when war comes to your country and your home. I think it’s wrong. I’m just trying to protect my family, my home and our country. It’s a simple solution for people who love in their country, their home , your family and your people. You don’t think about four belts and the title of undisputed world champion. No, you don’t think about that.”

“Now I started to think about my family and children. What about everyone, where and who will they be when they grow up? Now this is one of my goals,” said Lomachenko in the documentary Blood, Sweat & Tears: Haney vs. Lomachenko.
Note that after the invasion of Russia, Lomachenko entered the defense, and then continued his professional career.
It will be remembered that the fight Devin Haney – Vasily Lomachenko will take place on May 20 in Las Vegas. Previously, former rival Lomachenko explained why he would beat Haney.
