Lasitskene said she had not received a response from the IOC President to an open letter

Russian Olympic champion in high jump Maria Lasitskene said she had not received a response from the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach to an open letter.

On Thursday, published a letter from Lasitskene to Bach, in which it condemned the leader of IOC for lack of courage and dignity to lift the restrictions imposed on Russian athletes.

– What prompted you to write a letter to Bach, because in Znamensky they said that you were trying to get out of the situation. And did you get an answer?

– There was no answer, I had no doubt there would be none. The letter was written so as not to forget the athletes who are in Russia, so as not to shift the responsibility of sport. Let us remember. This topic is very difficult for me,” Lasitskene told reporters.

– Nevertheless, there was a reaction – in the comments under your post on the social network, a portal to hell opened, figuratively speaking.

– I almost immediately disconnected from all this, after the publication of the letter. I didn’t read anything, but I expected the reaction to be like this.

At the end of February, the IOC recommended to international sports federations not to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete due to the situation in Ukraine.
