Athletistic/ Figure Skating. Sports lawyer Anna Antseliovich has explained why WADA may delay the decision in the case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, who is accused of violating anti-doping rules.
“The deadline established by the international standard is six months. But such cases are rarely settled within six months. As a rule, they drag on, they can take even more than a year”, quotes the Champion lawyer.
Kamila Valieva became Olympic champion in team competitions in February 2022, but the award was postponed indefinitely due to the figure skater’s positive doping test, taken in December 2021 at the Russian Championships in St. Petersburg.
During the Valieva doping test, the banned drug trimetazidine was found, which improves blood circulation and increases endurance.
