Kalinina – about the victory over Kudermetova: I hope that I give people a little light, a little positive emotions for my country

Ukrainian reached the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome

Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina commented on the victory over Russian Veronika Kudermetova in the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome. The Ukrainian will play in the final of this tournament for the first time.

“How do I feel? I feel like I can’t feel my legs. In general, I have already played so much at this tournament, three sets, then again three sets, and again three sets … So I move as best I can. I’m happy that I moved on.

But the tournament is not over yet, yes. Tomorrow another battle awaits me. Both tennis players (Rybakina and Ostapenko) are players of the highest level. Tournaments like this are never easy. First of all, I must recuperate. But these are incredible emotions. I am fighting, I am moving on and this is a new experience for me, I am really very happy.

And I would also like to add that it is very important for me now to win every match, [учитывая] what Ukraine is going through… I hope that I give people some light, some positive emotions for my country. And I hope that the Ukrainians have some fun,” Kalinina said.

In the final of the tournament, Kalinina will play with the winner of the match Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) – Elena Ostapenko (Latvia).
