Seagulls are still interested in the services of a Ukrainian
Central defender Miner Nikolai Matvienko will be the transfer target of English Brighton next summer.
The Seagulls are looking for a left and centre-back, and Matvienko can play in both positions. According to The Athletic, Brighton, like last winter, retains an active interest in the Ukrainian football player.
Recall that in January, Brighton made an offer for Matvienko, but was refused by Shakhtar. According to Sergey Palkin, the Pitmen’s general director, the English club gave 16 million euros plus bonuses for the Ukrainian.
This season, Matvienko played 36 matches for Shakhtar, scoring two goals and providing four assists. In March, he extended the agreement with the Donetsk club until December 31, 2027.
Shakhtar is leading in the standings of the championship of Ukraine. Brighton is in sixth position in the English Premier League.
