Lomachenko loses to Haney for undisputed lightweight title

The judges gave the victory to the American boxer

Ukrainian boxer Vasily Lomachenko lost to the American Devin Haney in a duel for the title of absolute world champion in lightweight. The fight took place at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.

The first rounds passed at a calm pace, without a clear advantage from one of the boxers. The American worked at a distance and tried not to let the Ukrainian get closer. Lomachenko worked in series and went ahead on his opponent.

In the middle of the fight, Haney often punched the Ukrainian to the body, and in the seventh round he landed a cool left hook. Vasily was habitually active in the ring, but he did not often manage to get close to the American.

By the championship rounds, both boxers had accumulated fatigue, but the Ukrainian managed to give out several cool series and hit Haney for sure. In the 12th round, Lomachenko began to take risks, go forward and pin Devin to the ropes.

According to the results of 12 rounds, the judges gave the victory to the American champion: 116:114, 115:113, 115:113.

Lomachenko fought his 20th fight in the professional ring and suffered his third defeat in his career. Undefeated Haney won his 30th fight and defended the undisputed lightweight title of the world champion.
