Shakur challenged Haney to a fight
Former featherweight and super featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson believes that the Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko deserved victory in a fight with the undisputed world champion in lightweight Devin Haney.
“Lomachenko should be the undisputed champion. He won this fight. He landed cleaner punches. He hit Dev with more accurate punches and increased the pace.”
“Let’s do my fight with Haney. I think this should happen next. I think Devin is not at my level and I will show it. I feel that Devin is a tough fighter, but I have a high level of skill inside, and he is not at my level.
“Bill Haney called me after my last fight. Now I’m here and they ran out of the ring. They just saw me and ran away. They got a little scared. I can’t wait to meet him.”
Lomachenko lost to Haney for the title of undisputed world lightweight champion. According to the results of 12 rounds, the judges gave the victory to the American champion: 116:114, 115:113, 115:113.
According to the official referee’s notes, the Ukrainian had an indisputable advantage, when at least two of the three judges gave him victory, in five rounds: at the start of the fight and at the end. Two of the three referees gave Vasily the second, third, eighth, tenth and 11th rounds. The rest were taken by Haney.
Lomachenko fought his 20th fight in the professional ring and suffered his third defeat in his career. Undefeated Haney won his 30th fight and defended the undisputed lightweight title of the world champion.
