New head coach “Belogorye” became Alexander Volkov according to the Belgorod Volleyball Club website.
Volkov announced his retirement as a player in May. The 38-year-old athlete’s last club was Zenit Kazan.

We chose Alexander, – said the director of “Belogorye” Sergei Tetyukhin. – We talked a lot with him about it, I liked his vision, his attitude, his ambition. The man wants to be a coach. Volkov has huge playing and volleyball experience, great authority, which I hope will help him quickly reorient himself to the coaching profession.
Volkov is a six-time Russian champion, four-time Russian Cup winner, Champions League winner. As part of the national team, he became an Olympic champion, winner of the World Cup and the World League.
Belogorye finished fifth in the Russian Championship last season. The team was led by Boris Kolchin.
