Russian volleyball player “Fenerbahce” Arina Fedorovtseva summed up the season in the Turkish team and noted that the withdrawal of Russians from participation in team sports in international tournaments and, most likely, the 2024 Olympics is a blow to volleyball and Russian sports in general.
Fedorovtseva and her compatriot Anna Lazareva won the Turkish championship with Fenerbahce. Fedorovtsu, 19, was recognized as the tournament’s top scorer.
– The season was bright, eventful, there were many difficulties. I don’t want to say there were bad times, because in the end we are champions. We started the season successfully, with a trophy, and also ended it with a victory – in the Turkish league. It’s a bit sad that we lost in the Champions League, but I think it’s a huge motivation for next season.
– Does the presence of compatriots in the team inspire?
– Of course, that means a lot more communication.
Popularity does not interfere, because the main thing is to be able to prioritize, for me volleyball comes first. I’m all focused on him. Private life? Write and write, everything has its time.
— Do you face pressure because of the Russian passport?
– There was a bit of pressure, but that didn’t stop me from playing. There were no specific times.
– To painful subjects if we move on. How closely do you follow what is happening with the team. Because if someone goes to the Olympics in Paris, it’s unlikely to affect volleyball, because it’s a team sport.
The suspension is a blow not only for volleyball, but for all Russian sports. I feel especially sorry for our team, because I can say with confidence that we have some very good players. We would have shown a good level at the Olympics. But, unfortunately, how it happened. We wouldn’t be professional athletes if such tough times made us lose motivation. First of all, keep yourself fit and in shape, so that when they let us in, show some level,” Fedorovtseva said on the Loud show on .
