Krasyuk: We want to arrange Usyk-Dubois fight in Wroclaw

The fight is planned for August

Alexander Krasyukpromoter of the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyksaid that the priority place for the duel of the Ukrainian against the British heavyweight Daniel Dubois is Poland.

“Yes, we want to arrange this fight in Wroclaw. In early August, at the same football stadium where Vitali Klitschko boxed with Tomasz Adamek in September 2011. Local municipal authorities are interested in holding such a mega-fight in their city. The mayor of the city also takes an active position. We want to arrange not just a sporting event, but a big festival, within the framework of which we implement charitable projects to help Ukrainians.”

“Now there are about 3 million Ukrainians in Poland. And hundreds of thousands in neighboring European countries. Usyk has not fought in Ukraine since 2015. Now, unfortunately, this is not possible for obvious reasons. But to hold a fight where Usyk would be a home boxer is our long-term plan, so we want to bring it to life in this way. Also, let’s not forget that it was in Poland that Alexander received his first champion title in 2016.”

The World Boxing Association ordered Usyk to defend his title against Dubois. Usyk said that he plans to fight the Briton at the end of the summer.

Three potential venues are being considered for the fight: Great Britain remains the main option, and the fight could also be organized in Poland and the Middle East.

The WBA has already set a promotional bid for the bout between Usyk and Dubois. The event will take place on May 25 in Houston. The minimum bid is one million dollars. At the same time, Usyk will receive 75% of the total prize fund, and Dubois – 25%.

If Dubois fails to enter the ring against the Ukrainian, then Usyk can fight Deontay Wilder or Martin Bakole. Both boxers have already expressed their desire to enter the ring with the Ukrainian champion.
