Privalova on Trusova’s participation in the Athletics Week: “Everyone understood that it would be difficult to achieve a super result”

Acting Head of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) Irina Privalova thanked the skater Alexander Trusov for participation in competitions within the framework of the Week of Athletics, noting that they understood in advance the absence of a high result.

On June 9, Trusova competed in the long jump at the junior (U-20) competition as part of Moscow Athletics Week. The best result of the Olympic silver medalist, who was credited, is 4.10 meters. The figure skater took last place.

She never jumped long in her life, but she always liked it. The specifics of athletics jumps are very different from figure skating jumps. We have to run and jump at high speed. In figure skating, you accelerate, jump from one place, turn around due to speed and land on your feet, and in our case – on the “fifth point”. She could clearly follow the instructions to get online, she was able to calculate.

Everyone understood that it would be difficult to achieve a super result. We were grateful. She did it to support athletics,” Privalova said on ’s All for the Match show.
