Portuguese cyclist Joao Almeida of the UAE Team Emirates has won the 16th stage of the Giro d’Italia.
The length of the stage, which took place on the Sabbio Chiese – Monte Bondone route, was 203 km. Almeida overcame it in 5 hours 53 minutes and 27 seconds.
The Welsh representative Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers) is second, the Slovenian Primož Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) completes the top three.
The overall leader is Tomas, who is 18 seconds ahead of Almeida. Roglic (+0.29) is in third place.
The next stage of the 195 km long stage race on the Pergine-Valsugana – Caorle route will take place on Wednesday 24 May.
