The “Russian world” continues to bring death and destruction throughout Ukraine. Sports infrastructure is no exception. The Ministry of Youth and Sports said how many infrastructure facilities were destroyed by the Russian army.
According to the head of the department, Vadim Gutzeit, the occupiers caused losses of $ 130 million.
“Russian troops continue to destroy the sports infrastructure. It seems that they can not forgive us not only on the asphalt in the villages, but also on modern sports complexes in the Volnovakha region, Liman, Kharkiv.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports continues to maintain dismal statistics. Russia has damaged and/or destroyed 94 sports infrastructure facilities. An estimated $ 130 million in damage was caused. The occupiers “liberated” us from 63 sports complexes, 9 swimming pools, 3 ice arenas, 17 stadiums, and a bicycle complex in Liman.
Most of the objects (30) were destroyed in the Donbass, which President Volodymyr Zelensky identified as one of the priorities for the development of mass sports and elite sports.
The stadium in Volnovakha, the Metalist stadium in the Kharkiv region, the unique cycle track in Liman, the ice palace in Severodonetsk, which is one of the largest in Ukraine, were destroyed. “Strategic facilities” have become targets for enemy projectiles: the Neptune pool in Mariupol, the Luhansk regional sports center Olimp in Kremennaya, the Avangard sports complex in Kyiv, the Olympic training and sports center in Chernihiv, and twelve -dozens of other things.
As part of the initiative of the President of Ukraine #UNITED24, the Ministry of Youth and Sports opens a special account with the NBU to collect charitable contributions. This will work in a few days. All funds will be directed to the restoration of sports facilities, institutions, organizations in the field of physical culture and sports and development of sports infrastructure.
