Double Olympic champion Sophia the Great shared his emotions after winning the Moscow Saber tournament.
In the final, Velikaya defeated Yana Yegoryan, two-time champion of the 2016 Games, with a score of 15:13.
– Do you feel like the first time after another victory?
— It’s always a new stage, new people, new emotions. Today there was a completely different world, the world of teenagers, in which I merged so much. I liked it so much, it gave a certain charge of liveliness and training for the whole day.
– You got a lot of support today. Did this help?
– Certainly. Today, besides the fact that the tournament is named after the double Olympic champion Mikhail Burtsev, I knew him very well, I treated him very warmly, I love his family very much, it is also the fiftieth anniversary of the tournament.
I’ve been fencing for twenty-five years, and no matter how badly I wanted to, but I really didn’t want to compete, I was unprepared, sick, kids, it always inspired me. This is necessary for people who love fencing, who play sports. I think my positive thoughts made today’s result, – Grand Correspondent conveys the words.
