Elina’s noble deed
Elina Svitolina shared her emotions after winning the title in Strasbourg. The tennis player said that everything prize money donate to help Ukrainian children.
“It was a wonderful week, I am very happy that I was able to play like this. This is my first title after returning, after the birth of our child. He is very special, he means a lot. Also because I already won here in 2020, when there was a pandemic. It’s very nice this time to keep the trophy not in the mask. I would like to thank the tournament for giving me such an opportunity to play here,” Svitolina said.
“All this week I felt your incredible support, you gave me energy, even when I played yesterday against [француженки] Clara Burel. You gave me strength. And I would like to share this energy with my homeland, with Ukraine. I will donate all my prize money to help Ukrainian children who need it most in this difficult time.”
“I would also like to thank France for the incredible work that you are doing, how you host Ukrainians and do everything to make them feel that this is their second home. So I really appreciate everything you do for us. Together we will see the light and win this war. Thank you very much! Glory to Ukraine!”.
In the final of the tournament in Strasbourg, Svitolina defeated Russian Anna Blinkova – 6:2, 6:3. This is Elina’s first title since returning to the Tour and the 17th in her career.
