Most sports facilities destroyed in Donbass
Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit spoke about the damage to sports infrastructure during the war. As a result of the military aggression of the Russian Federation, 94 sports facilities were damaged.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports continues to keep sad statistics. Russia has already destroyed and/or damaged 94 sports infrastructure facilities. Approximately $130 million in damage has been caused. The invaders “liberated” us from 63 sports complexes, 9 swimming pools, 3 ice arenas, 17 stadiums, and a bicycle complex in Liman.
Most objects (30) were destroyed in the Donbass, which President Volodymyr Zelensky has identified as one of the priorities for the development of mass sports and elite sports.
The stadium in Volnovakha, the Metalist stadium in Kharkiv region, the unique cycle track in Liman, the ice palace in Severodonetsk, which was one of the largest in Ukraine, were destroyed. “Strategic facilities” became targets for enemy shells: the Neptune pool in Mariupol, the Luhansk regional sports center Olympus in Kremennaya, the Avangard sports complex in Kyiv, the Olympic training and sports center in Chernihiv, and dozens of other objects,” Gutzeit wrote on his Facebook page.
