The Ukrainian judo team withdrew the application from the Grand Prix in Dushanbe due to the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the tournament

IJF allowed 11 representatives of aggressor countries to compete in Tajikistan

Judo Federation of Ukraine announced that the national team will miss the stage The Grand Prix V Dushanbe (June 2-4). The reason is the admission to the competitions of Russian and Belarusian athletes.

“The Ukrainian team planned to take part in the tournament, but a few days before the start, they had to withdraw their application. This is due to the fact that the International Judo Federation (IJF) has registered for participation in the tournament representatives of Russia and Belarus in the status of “Individual Neutral Athletes”. Now in tournament application there are 11 representatives of the aggressor countries – two Belarusian and nine Russian judokas,” the FDU said in a statement.

Now the Ukrainian team of 14 athletes is at a training camp in Slovak Shamorin, where they are preparing for the European Games.

The nearest tournaments for Ukrainian judokas should be the European Cup among juniors in Prague (June 3-4) and the Grand Slam stage in Astana (June 16-18), if representatives of Russia and Belarus are not allowed to participate.

Last week, the Ukrainian judo team won five medals at the stage The Grand Prix in Austrian Linz. Dilshot Khalmatov (up to 60 kg) and Mikhail Svidrak (up to 81 kg) won silver medals, while Daria Beloded (up to 57 kg), Artem Lesyuk (up to 60 kg) and Elizaveta Litvinenko became bronze medalists.
