Cyclist Novolodskaya: “I didn’t ask for a neutral status, I just received a refusal”

Olympic medalist in track cycling Maria Novolodskaya told that she had received a notification about the denial of neutral status from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

The UCI allows Russians to start from June 1, if a number of recommendations issued by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) are followed. Novolodskaya plays for CSKA. This is against the admissions recommendations.

– I did not submit (request) for neutral status, I just received a refusal. I was in Spain, the races were over, I went back to Russia. We discussed everything with the team, the situation is such that from June 1st I can no longer race at international level.
