Cyclist Voinova: “I didn’t ask for a neutral status, I’m expecting a baby and, in principle, I’m skipping the season”

Olympic medalist in track cycling Anastasia Voinova in a conversation with a correspondent, she said she had not filed any applications for neutral status, so she was surprised by the news with the denial of neutral status.

The International Cycling Union (UCI) allows Russians to start from June 1, if a number of recommendations issued by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) are followed. Voinova represents the National Guard. This is against the admissions recommendations.

– Generally speaking, I am now in a position and, purely physically, I would not be able to compete in international competitions. I received a letter from the UCI, certain admission conditions, I personally did not apply. I had no refusals. Probably, the letter arrived at the federation. I had planned to resume competition after giving birth. For me, this was all big news,” Voynova told .
