“In terms of tactics, it will be difficult to return to the international level” – winner of the World Championships on the Burlakova cycle path

Track Cycling World Championship winner Yana Burlakova said there would be no problem returning to world level in terms of physical preparation, but there could be challenges in terms of tactics.

The International Cycling Union (UCI) from June 1 allows Russian athletes based on the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee in the European Championships, World Championships, Nations Cup (formerly World Cup). On Thursday, Burlakova won the St. Petersburg Grand Prix in the team sprint.

– Yana, this is the last start of the Grand Prix block. Ho are you doing?

– Morally, it’s already difficult to connect to each Grand Prix race, but I’m happy with my physical preparation.

— How did the two previous Grands Prix go for you?

– It was very cold at the Tula Grand Prix, everyone was very cold. Especially the sprinters, according to the program, we had to sit all day. The cover didn’t help. We won the Italian Grand Prix at the Moscow Grand Prix, I was third in the sprint. Of course, there is no movement as we would like, but I think it is not so necessary now – we are preparing for the Russian championship. This is where preparation comes in. So far there is no crazy leg, but the results are satisfactory.

“You asked for neutral status?”

We spoke with the coach. Although we were not submitted, there was no general decision. I am an obedient athlete, until the coach says “go” there will be no solution. It would be difficult for me to go alone anyway.

– Do you think it will be difficult to return to international level?

– It will be difficult in tactics, but not in physics. We have strong competition in the women’s sprint. At least five people ride at a good level. But tactically, it will not be easy to rebuild. In the world, the sprint is now getting longer, keirin, everyone is shooting under the friend, on the contrary, we are calming down, letting off the gas, Burlakova told .
