“I am not a fan of forcing people to make loud statements” – Privalova on the letter to Lasitskene Bach

Acting Head of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) Irina Privalova responded to an open letter from Tokyo’s Olympic high jump champion, a Russian woman Maria Lasitskene Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Earlier, published a letter from Lasitskene to Bach, in which it condemned the IOC chief for lacking the courage and dignity to remove restrictions on Russian athletes.

– In the last seven years, in total, for about four years, I have not had the opportunity to participate in international competitions, although personally I have never had any complaints. Except one. I think it’s the cry of the soul. It is clear that Masha has been waiting for six or seven years for us to be restored to our rights, but we are still not restored. Now it is generally difficult to say what will happen and when – even the President of the Russian Olympic Committee will not say. How will the IOC react to this cry from the soul? Unfortunately, I cannot predict the future.

Did Thomas Bach ever support Russian athletes? You know, now the situation is such that even if a person supports Russia, it is difficult for him to talk about it publicly. Maybe it will cause him personal harm. I am not in favor of forcing people to make big statements. Time will put everything in its place, ”quotes Gazeta.ru Privalova.

At the end of February, the IOC recommended to international sports federations not to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete due to the situation in Ukraine.
