“Trusova was instructed to just hit the bar. The technical nuances have been worked on for years” – Privalova

Acting Head of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) Irina Privalova said the skater Alexandra Trousova in athletics week competitions, it was asked to simply hit the bar.

On June 9, Trusova competed in the junior long jump (U20) during Moscow Athletics Week. The figure skater made three test attempts and took last place with a score of 4.10 meters.

– Trusova knows how to follow the instructions given to her – and the instruction was just to get on the bar. It was impossible to do another one in 20 minutes – how to explain the technical nuances that people have been working on for years?

As she learned to push, she pushed. But from attempt to attempt, she added. And if she had trained for several months, the result would have been completely different. And so – she came, warmed up a little so as not to hurt herself, she was given a starting point.

They didn’t try to teach her to land – you saw, she landed almost on straight legs. This is also the specificity of figure skating: you can’t fall into it. And in the long jump – on the contrary: you throw your legs up and then land. But what she was told, she clearly realized. She has an eye, the ability to analyze. It would seem that a fragile girl, with long red hair. But she knows how to concentrate, Privalova told Gazeta.ru.

Trusova, who turns 18 on June 23 at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, was the first in history to be able to perform five quadruple jumps in a free skate without falling, becoming the second in women’s competition.
