The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), following the results of the next meeting of the management committee, has decided to continue to adhere to the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for Russian athletes.
“The UCI management committee, which took a series of harsh measures against Russia at the beginning of March, has agreed to continue to follow the evolution of the situation and to remain in line with the decisions taken by the IOC”, added the UCI said in a statement.
By decision of the International Cycling Union (UCI), Russian and Belarusian athletes have been suspended from participating in national teams due to the situation in Ukraine. They can only be allowed to start under the auspices of the UCI in a neutral status if they represent a professional team that is not registered under the Russian or Belarusian flag.
