Kurtseva: “The conditions in Rostov-on-Don were close to the sea, I liked it here”

Russian swimming champion Yana Kurtseva said she liked the competition conditions in Rostov-on-Don.

The Russian open water swimming championship ended on the Rostov-on-Don rowing channel. Kurtseva won at distances of 5 and 10 kilometers.

“Did you like the conditions in Rostov-on-Don?” Recently, there have been more start-ups in the Krasnodar Territory. Do you like the conditions here?

“It’s great in the Krasnodar Territory, but I really liked it here. A very nice competition site, a nice rowing channel. The water was not as smooth as it could have been. The conditions were close to the sea, I’m happy that we explored new places for the competition. It’s cool,” Kurtseva told “”.

– I partially agree with Sasha. When you’re fresh, you give all your strength to the “top ten” and then it’s hard to pull yourself together, collect your thoughts and swim in the “five”. It was really tough, but everything went well.

– You won both distances, but judging by the finish, you certainly weren’t bored.

– She was worried when she was swimming. Thank you to the girls who gave so much pleasure to the public and to themselves with this fight. It’s cool to come out of such a fight as a winner. We are all great!

Summer is here, it’s time for open water! In the autumn-winter period without competitions, wasn’t it emotionally difficult?

– It was time to strengthen, prepare well, swim a lot. I did not participate in the Russian Long Course Championships, and this added motivation before open water, so that everything was in order at the Russian Championships in Rostov-on-Don.

– Where are you going to swim next? Will there be pool departures?

— I would like to play in the Russian Cup final in Kazan. I would be happy to have such an opportunity. It’s always great to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the swimming pool, to see all the athletes.
