Derevyanchenko: I’m not upset because I know I won the fight

The Ukrainian lost to the Mexican Munguia by unanimous decision

Ukrainian boxer Sergey Derevyanchenko commented on the defeat in the fight for the WBC Silver belt in the second middleweight category against the Mexican Jaime Munguy.

“I think I won this fight. I controlled the fight in every round. The eleventh round was very close, and in the 12th he hit me in the body. Munguia hit me in the liver and I couldn’t stand it.

I saw that he was tired. I hit him on the body a few times to slow him down. But Munguya is a fierce fighter, he slowed down, but then recovered and returned to the fight.

I’m not upset because I know I won the fight. I did a good job in this fight, throughout the camp I worked with my team. I trained, I was ready for this fight. I know that I won because I had a good fight, ”Derevyanchenko said after the fight.

According to the results of 12 rounds, all three judges gave the victory to the Mexican boxer – 115:112, 114:113, 114:113. Derevyanchenko suffered his fifth defeat, and the fourth in the last five fights. The undefeated Munguia scored his 42nd win in the professional ring.
