Grigorchuk: As of February 23, 20,000 tickets were sold for the first match of Chornomorets in the second part of the season

Coach – about his return to the Odessa club

Chornomorets’ mentor Roman Grigorchuk told why he accepted the offer of the Odessa club, what options he had before returning to Odessa, and with what excitement the fans of the Sailors were waiting for the spring part of the championship, which never started due to the large-scale military invasion of Russia.

“Between the Chernomorets, where I worked before, and the current one, many events have passed, a long life span both in ordinary life and in football. I would have formulated the motivation for my second visit to Chernomorets a little differently,” Grigorchuk said in an interview with ProFootball. — For me, this club, the team and the city are very important. During this period – from summer to autumn of last year – there were many offers and options that could be accepted and worked in another city. Two specific proposals were from the championship of Ukraine, there were options from abroad.”

“But when we already specifically understood that there would be changes in Chernomorets, new people would come, I was very happy about this. For me personally, returning to this club is a special event in my life. It’s hard to describe, you have to feel it, which, probably, both I and the fans can do. Because what happened two months – from the moment I started working and training, although we were in Turkey, and the fans were in Odessa.

So many conversations, visions of the future… And expectations from the first match, which was supposed to take place on February 27, from the atmosphere that should have been. It’s even hard for me to imagine… There is no doubt that the stadium would have been full. On February 23, about 20,000 tickets were sold. Sorry, but nothing. We should not complain about anything, but move forward.”

Early on the morning of February 24, Russia launched rocket and air strikes on most Ukrainian cities and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia continues for the 114th day.
