Dynamo’s home match in the Champions League qualification will probably be held in Poland
Main coach Dynamo Mircea Lucescu shared his expectations from the match with Fenerbahce in the second round of qualification Champions League. The Romanian noted that he did not want to meet the Turkish giant at this stage of the European Cup.
“The participation of Dynamo in the Champions League is very important for raising the morale of the war-torn Ukrainians. We want to show that life goes on and that we have not stopped football despite the bombs. People have been devastated in the last 4 months. Now we are trying to make them smile thanks to football,” Lucescu said.
“It will be a difficult match for us. I wouldn’t want to face Fenerbahce at this stage of the tournament. I think that this match will be the most important in the selection.
“The first match will most likely take place in Poland. However, if Putin had stopped bombing Ukraine, we would have played Fenerbahce in Kyiv. My dream is that the war would end and we would again play in a crowded stadium.”
The other day, Dynamo football players gathered in Kyiv for a scheduled medical examination and started training under the guidance of Lucescu. On June 22, the blue and white will go to Romania.
At the end of June, Dynamo plans to hold two friendly matches – with Yverdon Sport (June 26) and Lausanne (June 29).
