Ruslan Ternovoy, a water diver, on said the change in tactics his partner insisted on Julia Timoshina helped them win synchronized platform diving at the Russian Championships.

Timoshinina and Ternova won the Russian Championship on Wednesday, which takes place in Yekaterinburg.

– What emotions?

– So happy. We wanted to win for a long time. Especially at the Russian Cup or the Russian Championship, this projectile. Did not work. We all lost a bit somewhere, a jump, we made mistakes, but Yulia insisted that we change tactics, arrangement, order of jumps. That is, we put one jump instead of another. I don’t know if it’s easier or not easier, but today everything seems to have gone without blockages, we are satisfied,” admitted Ternova.

– Whose idea was it? Your coaching, Evgeny Kuznetsov invited?

– It was my idea. I have long understood that something is wrong with us and something needs to be changed. It seems like we are strong, but still something went wrong. I suggested, Ruslan agreed. And you see – a good result, – said Timoshinina.

– Usually, this type of program receives little training time. Did you have an advantage? Because some teams usually jump off the sheet.

Ternovoy: To be honest, no. We don’t train a lot of mixed dance. It’s easy for me to climb and do it anytime, because for me it’s already easier jumps. But Julia is sometimes a little heavier. She sometimes asks us to jump with her. And I refuse it, because it doesn’t work, because I train my jumps. In fact, once a month, we train maybe. And before the competition we climb a week or two, or even at the competition we climb, we collect the programs. And we are already performing well. Many do. And those who train together in the same city, and those in different cities.

– Julia, the championship is over for you. What are your results?

Timoshinina: It went better for me than expected. Three gold medals. I hadn’t even expected it to be like this. But I’m very happy. And I wish good luck to Ruslan.
