Bondar: ‘The pool in Yekaterinburg is cool, but there was not enough energy in the stands’

olympic medalist Alexandre Bondar in a conversation with , he admitted that he lacked the support of the stands during the Russian diving championship in Yekaterinburg.

Bondar won gold in the 10 meter platform on the final day of competition. This was the first major tournament for the Palace of Water Sports in Yekaterinburg.

– You left after your last jump, and we had the feeling that you no longer believed in victory.

I thought I was second. In principle, this is practically the case. Ruslan (Ternovoy) shouldn’t have made such a mistake (on the last jump), but it happens to everyone, and someone else always wins.

– What are your impressions of the Russian Championship?

— The swimming pool is cool, but far, and as far as I know, public transport does not go here. People don’t really understand how to get here. So the pool is cool, but it would be even cooler if there were full bleachers. The energy of the stands was a bit lacking, it does its job.

– What’s next on the plans?

“Holidays, then the Kremlin Cup,” Bondar told .
