President of the Russian Diving Federation (RFDI) Stanislav Druzhinin told that the empty stands are only one of the problems in the preparation for the Russian championship in Yekaterinburg, RFPV had to deal with excessive formalism in the decision-making of the local organizing committee.
The Russian Diving Championship, held in Yekaterinburg, ended on Thursday. The tournament hosted the new Aquatic Palace for the first time. The competitions took place in half-empty stands.
“It’s important for us to work together. I understand that maybe the organizing team of Yekaterinburg is not ready for this yet and maybe in the future we will overcome all obstacles. But tickets are only one of the problems we encountered. In particular, they came up against excessive formalism in problem solving.
There are no questions about the object itself. It is very important for water sports, I was surprised. But everything is known in comparison – in the same Kazan they are still waiting for us, our problems are solved before they arise. Yes, and in other regions are interested in everything going well. In Saratov, people lined up to enter the pool for the competition. And this pool is also on the outskirts.
We will discuss all these points with colleagues. I hope they pay attention to this situation and next time everything will be on another level. The championship in the sports part took place at a fantastic level. We filmed some of the material for a feature film whose film crew travels with us to understand what diving is.
Despite all this situation, I want to thank the governor of the region Leonid Rapoport, who is not indifferent to our sport and even jumped out of the top ten himself. He always helps and responds to our requests, but we couldn’t agree on everything with his team due to the formality of their approach,” Druzhinin told .
