Skaters Ekaterina Mironova And Yevgeny Ustenko performing in ice dancing, told how fundamentally different the past season was from previous ones.

Mironova and Ustenko are the winners of the championship of St. Petersburg, the dancers took fifth place in the championship of Russia. Following last season’s results, the duo are part of the Russian national figure skating team for the 2023/24 season.

– From the point of view of the organization of the stages of the Russian Championship, the championship itself, the final of the Russian Cup – everything was at a very high level. This has never happened in the country. The season itself has been tense, responsible and unpredictable for me. But at the same time, I was able to let go, not cling to the tension, and thanks to that, maybe the season was successful.

The generation of figure skating masters in ice dancing has changed, so a certain responsibility has been imposed on us to show that we are a promising couple. It was sometimes difficult mentally. A big victory for Zhenya and me is to enter the Russian national team, the main team. It is important that we are the first couple from St. Petersburg to be able to achieve this. Our city is proud of us. And yet, we broke the record this season in the Russian Championship – 180 points – we have never received so much, – Mironova told .

– The season has been brilliant, difficult and full, despite the lack of international starts. Our federation has done everything possible and impossible to make the season even better than the previous ones. There are fresh starts, bonuses in the form of cash prizes at regular Grand Prix stages, tournaments, show tournaments. For the first time, there was a show tournament according to the programs, a show jumping championship. It is valuable that athletes have the opportunity to participate in such competitions and fill the gaps in international competitions.
