Athletistic/Chess. Russian Grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi has risen from fourth to fifth in the International Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings.

The leader of the ranking is still the Norwegian chess player Magnus Carlsen. The second and third places are occupied by the Americans Hikaru Nakamura and Fabiano Caruana. On the fourth row is the current Chinese world champion Ding Liren.

In April 2023, Nepomniachtchi lost to Liren in a match for the World Chess Crown.
