Norway’s national cross-country team uses Bolshunov’s portrait for motivation

Eirik Mür Nossum, coach of the Norwegian cross-country ski team says TV2 that the team uses the portrait of a Russian Alexandra Bolshunova for motivation.

On March 1, the International Ski Federation (FIS) suspended Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices until the end of the 2021/22 season.

— We hung a portrait of Alexander Bolshunov on the wall. He has been the best skier in the world in recent years, he is someone to compete with. There’s a lot of motivation there. But given the current situation around the world, it’s completely fine that he and other Russians are not allowed to compete, Nossum said.

Bolshunov at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing won 3 gold, silver and bronze medals.
