Ukrainian boxer Alexander Khizhnyak became a champion European Games 2023 in the weight category up to 80 kg.
In the final match, the Ukrainian convincingly defeated Gabriel Veocic from Croatia. Khizhnyak knocked out his opponent in the second round.
Recall that in the semi-final Khizhnyak defeated Italian Salvatore Cavaliaro by unanimous decision – 5:0 (30:25, 30:26, 30:26, 30:26, 30:26).
This is Khizhnyak’s third medal at the European Games. In 2015, the boxer won bronze, and in 2019 he became the champion.
Khizhnyak received a license for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The Ukrainian became the silver medalist of the Tokyo 2020 Games in the weight category up to 75 kg.
In total, Ukraine has already won 39 medals at the 2023 European Games in Krakow, including 20 gold ones. Blue-yellows take third place in the medal standings of the competition.
