Elena Vaitsekhovskaya: “Shcherbakova does not cling to sport”

According to Vaitsekhovskaya, Shcherbakova’s main problem is her attitude towards sports.

“Anna Shcherbakova is “contrary”. Here it is time to recall a rather old interview with Irina Rodnina, where she said: “On all the exams where you had to turn a bike, breathe in a bag and multiply 18 by 13 in his head, I always had the worst indicators. And everywhere below they attributed: “Win only at the expense of will and character.” It never occurred to anyone that I had such talent – to compete. That in an extreme situation I am like a fish in water.

This is Shcherbakova’s main talent. The fact that Anya has no equal in her ability to show the maximum result at the only necessary and important moment, we observed not only at the Olympics.

The whole career of this athlete in figure skating is usually a rather rare option for sports, when a child from a family not very athletic and very prosperous in all respects, with a full school education, excellent knowledge of a foreign language, many interests and the opportunity to develop in any direction, reaches absolute sporting heights.

I think an incredibly valuable quality comes from family, which I call the “transfer effect.” The essence of the term is that a person, whatever he does, should not allow himself to work negligently. Because if not, he will inevitably transfer negligence to any business, no matter what he does.

In life, by the way, everything happens exactly the same. I guess that’s why Anya is so successful in everything she does outside of sports. His words from his time on a TV project, “If you take this job, you gotta do it well” – they, if you think about it, are all about the same transfer effect.

Therefore, it seems to me that Shcherbakova, unlike a large number of colleagues in the profession, does not see the slightest anguish over her own post-sports future. She does not cling to the sport at all, although she is quite capable of returning to it.

Will he come back? I think, only if he finds a new and very strong motivation. The task of simply repeating the path already traveled and winning the Olympics for the second time, skating programs of the same type in style, does not seem to me to be a strong enough motivation for people like Anya. They have too many interests for that”, wrote the journalist on her Telegram channel.
