Kryvbas made a request to UPL clubs to spend the season in Ukraine

The club intends to be based in Krivoy Rog

Kryvbas published an appeal to the UPL clubs on the official website with a request to hold championship of Ukraine 2022/23 on the territory of our country.

“We ask you to support the option of holding the UPL championship of the 2022/23 season only in Ukraine! In our opinion, there is no other option, neither from a moral point of view, nor from the point of view of a sporting principle.

“FC Kryvbas has a clear pro-Ukrainian position, and simply does not understand how at a time when the Armed Forces of Ukraine are heroically defending our borders, when volunteers from different parts of the country have united and help them in every possible way, when employees of large industrial and agricultural enterprises, despite that they work and support the country’s economy, when our football players, coaches, employees and ultras of the club fight and die for our freedom, we can leave them and Ukraine, and go to play the championship in any other country. How are we going to look them all in the eye after that?”

Kryvbas will begin preparations for the new season of the Ukrainian Championship on June 21. Footballers of the team will gather in Krivoy Rog. It is not yet known who will lead Kryvbas next season. Recall that in early June the club did not renew the contract with head coach Alexander Babich. The main contender for the post of mentor of the Kryvyi Rih residents is the ex-coach of Zorya and Sheriff Yuriy Vernydub.

The 2021/22 season in Ukraine ended ahead of schedule due to a full-scale Russian invasion of the country. Shakhtar was recognized as the winner, Dynamo took the second place.

The start of the Ukrainian Championship 2022/23 is tentatively scheduled for August 20. In the new season, 16 teams will play in the Premier League, the championship matches will be held in two rounds (30 rounds). The Cabinet of Ministers decided to resume holding sports competitions in the country under martial law.

Earlier it was reported that the majority of the UPL clubs are not opposed to the participants of European competitions playing matches abroad, and are ready to leave Ukraine for away matches, but at the same time they want compensation for all expenses. Only Kolos, Alexandria, Kryvbas and Rukh opposed.
