Former Russian figure skater Alla Loboda, winner of the World Junior Championship, believes that Russia now has a strong ice dance team.
– A crisis? It seems to me, on the contrary, that there are so many talented couples in Russia now. I think the opposite. Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin returned after missing the season, Alexander Zhulin has many talented couples training, Vasilisa Kaganovskaya and Valera Angelopol are developing very well. I think we have such a strong dance team now. In our sport, the visual component is also important, and we are all so beautiful – the girls are usually like a match. It’s always a pleasure to watch, everything is incredibly bright,” Loboda told The Championship.
In June, it became known that silver medalists of the Russian Championship Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin, performing in ice dancing, will represent the Georgian team from the 2023/24 season.
