Silver Medal of the High Jump World Championships Mikhail Akimenko who underwent ankle surgery, told he plans to start full-fledged training in October and compete in winter.
The last time Akimenko started was in January 2022 at the Battle of the Sexes tournament, where he took second place with a score of 2.18m. Since then, the 27-year-old has not competed due to a foot injury.
– The recovery is going well, I have already started small training sessions. I hope that by winter, I will be in perfect health and that I will return to competitions. I do not want to rush to recovery, otherwise a relapse is possible. I plan to return to full-fledged training in October when I go to training camp. But I can’t wait to go back, I want to jump. In such a competition with Ilya Ivanyuk, Danil Lysenko, the results, I think, will be very high, Akimenko told .
Akimenko at the 2019 World Championships in Qatar won silver with a personal best 2.35m.
