Choreographer Nikolai Moroshkin told that a good single skater is superior to a good dancer in skating, so such a skater can easily master ice dancing.
Morochkin is 29 years old. He is engaged in skating and choreography at the Tamara Moskvina Figure Skating Sports Club in St. Petersburg. Moroshkin starred in ice dancing with Valeria Starygina and Evgenia Kosygina.
– Since all your age aware that you are dancing on ice, you are used to constant interaction with your partner. And here it is necessary to put interesting moves to one person. How did you adapt?
– It was hard. After all, by the time I started working as a choreographer, all my knowledge of figure skating had been built solely on the basis of ice dancing. But the ideology quickly changed: I discovered that our sport is much more multifaceted than I previously thought.
I firmly believe that a good single skater is better than a good dancer in terms of skating. We must pay attention to the personal improvement of each athlete, to give the opportunity to be unique. Now single skaters are doing things dancers never dreamed of. Therefore, if a single skater skates well, it costs nothing to master ice dancing. And if he immediately goes to the dances, then he is a weak simple skater. The level of his individual skills is much lower, Moroshkin told .
