The head of ASOIF called on the international federations to help the IOC in the question of the admission of Russia to the Olympic Games

The head of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), Francesco Ricci Bitti, said that the position of the international sports federations on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in competitions under their auspices will help the International Olympic Committee (IOC ) to make a final decision on the admission of the representatives of these countries to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Beatty called for finding ways to include neutral athletes in competition and to monitor their neutrality, as this is a difficult task. He notes that many federations follow this plan, but not all, and he respects their choice. According to Beatty, sport should serve as a bridge, not a cause of conflict.

The head of ASOIF believes that the efforts of international federations will greatly facilitate the final decision on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the Paris Olympics, and therefore, they are working for the future. He expressed his gratitude to the federations that try to welcome neutral athletes to participate in the competitions in accordance with the recommendations of the IOC and with a certain flexibility, taking into account the sports discipline. Beatty believes that these efforts are a significant contribution of the international federations to the Olympic movement and contribute to a more comfortable final decision on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the Paris Olympics.
