Athletistic/Figure Skating. Russia’s Honored Figure Skating Coach Alexander Zhulin has shared his first impressions after 2006 Olympic ice dance champion Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized.

“We were shocked by the news of Roman’s condition…I was told that his chance of survival is only two per cent. According to my information, he suffered a shoulder injury on January 1. In order to keep performing, he was given an anti-inflammatory injection. What effect does it have? It reduces the temperature and relieves the pain. I believe this is what led to the development of pneumonia. And because the injection lowered the temperature, there were no symptoms other than a cough, which made it difficult to diagnose. I believe that’s what led him to such a state during 10 days,” Zhulin explained in an interview with the Russia 1 channel.
