2020 Olympic Champion in Artistic Gymnastics Arthur Dalaloyan believes that the SCO and BRICS Games should not be treated as an alternative to the Olympics, as they are international tournaments in their own right.

At the beginning of May, Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin expressed the idea of ​​holding a large-scale international event in our country in 2024 – the BRICS Games. These competitions can be scheduled to coincide with the summit of the organization, which will be held in Kazan.

– Of course, it is a pleasant observation that many paths are being worked out for the development of Russian sport. My personal opinion is that this should be taken seriously now more than ever. You have to do it, it’s a great motivation for young athletes and title holders. Everyone will have a competitive experience. BRICS and SCO countries are developed powers that can compete with who can and should exchange experiences.

These competitions should not be treated as an alternative to the Olympics, I think. It should be treated as full international tournaments, Games at the highest level, created by our country. I hope these competitions will become a tradition for many years to come. That there are Olympic Games, maybe we will return there one day, but the fact that we have our own Games which are in no way inferior to the Olympic Games, isn’t that a reason for pride?! – says Dalaloyan “Championship”.
