Costume designer for figure skating and rhythmic gymnastics Alena Kuklycheva thinks props can interfere with skaters, but they can be used if desired.
– There are different ways to complicate the costume, for example, gradient or textures. Not necessarily an excessive amount of rhinestones or some kind of jewelry. All accessories, it seems to me, everything is in the way. Although, if desired, you can make an imitation on the grid or fasten it very firmly. I made bracelets for Alena Kostornaya, but they were made of very elastic fabric.
It is unacceptable for parts of the costume to fall on the ice – it is very traumatic and points are deducted for this. I wouldn’t want the suit to interfere with the athlete. I think the rules are not taken from the ceiling, everything is reasonable. For example, some small rhinestones, which are usually well fixed, cannot affect performance. And some large details can interfere, – said Kuklycheva “Championship”.
