The press service of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) wished health to the skater Roman Kostomarov who was discharged from the hospital.
Kostomarov was hospitalized in January, since then the 46-year-old figure skater has been under medical supervision and has suffered several amputations. On Thursday, Kostomarov announced that he was discharged from hospital and expressed his gratitude to Kommunarka MMCC staff.
– We wish you good health and we have no doubt that a bright new chapter will begin in his life. We never cease to admire the courage of Roman himself and, of course, the unparalleled courage and human dignity of his wife Oksana, of all the relatives and friends who accompanied him every day. A deep reverence to the doctors and medical staff who performed a true miracle, the ROC said in a statement.
Kostomarov, paired with Tatyana Navka, won gold at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin in ice dancing. In addition, the duo won twice at the world championships, three times at the European championships.
