Elina made it to the third round of Wimbledon 2023 and will play with American Kenin
Former first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina commented on the victory over Elise Mertens in the second round Wimbledon 2023. The Ukrainian also shared her opinion about her next rival Sofia Kenin.
“Today’s match was a roller coaster, but in the end, I am very pleased with how I played the first and third sets. I played really well, served well. Yes, I just played these two games well, ”said Svitolina.
“The fact that Mertens won the second set… On grass, things can happen very quickly. You just have to accept it and move on. I played the first set well, in the second game Mertens returned to the game, she served beautifully, but I just lost the initiative. In the third set, I tried to move a little faster with my feet. And now, here I am, advanced to the third round.”
