“Why shouldn’t Kostomarov lead the Russian Figure Skating Federation?” — Rodnina

Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating and a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Irina Rodnina believes that Roman Kostomarov could lead the Russian Figure Skating Federation.

Kostomarov was hospitalized in January, since then the 46-year-old figure skater has been under medical supervision and has suffered several amputations. On Thursday, Kostomarov announced that he was discharged from hospital and expressed his gratitude to Kommunarka MMCC staff.

– I watched a video of Roman’s lessons. You can see his upbeat mood, cheerful spirit, and desire to get back to normal life as soon as possible.

Figure skating will end sooner or later. It can’t be a lifelong job and profession. Why shouldn’t Roman lead the Russian Figure Skating Federation? He accomplished a feat, showing everyone that life has no end. Kostomarov is an Olympic champion, he is known in the sports world,” Rodnina told Sport24.

Kostomarov, paired with Tatyana Navka, won gold at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin in ice dancing. In addition, the duo won twice at the world championships, three times at the European championships.
